B.C. Cedar Room

Walled with British Columbia red cedar, and adorned with cedar medallion art pieces, this room is built with healing qualities. It is a safe space for healing and peace, ideal for ceremonies, smudging, praying, meditating, and quiet sidebar conversations or small group meetings. Cedar benches draped with fur surround a round table—complemented by a living moss wall—providing a lush, calming ambiance.

TRADITIONAL SIGNIFICANCE: Western red cedar holds important spiritual and cultural meaning for B.C.’s First Nations people. Known spiritually as the “tree of life,” the western red cedar provides several needs, including clothing, shelter, tools, transportation, and textiles for artistic, ceremonial, and spiritual activities. Three large cedar wall medallions—a raven, a frog, and a moon—are displayed to pay homage to Traditional Ways of Being. The raven is a symbol of creation, knowledge, and prestige; the frog is a symbol of wealth and prosperity; and the moon is an important guardian spirit and protector.
